Katie Spear is a Brooklyn based filmmaker and video editor. She wrote, directed, produced, and edited the short comedy film, Jade The Icon (2025), which premiered at the Big Apple Film Festival. She worked as an assistant editor on independent films Sunfish and Other Stories on Green Lake (Dir. Sierra Falconer), a nominee for the 2025 Sundance Grand Jury Prize, and Blood Friends (Dir. Hayley Ulmer), a short documentary that premiered at DOC NYC.

 

As an editor, Spear works across formats and genres, with experience editing  unscripted television, documentary and narrative short films, sizzle reels, and social media content. Her editorial clients include Digital Cave Media, Jon Youshaei,  The Yogi Foundation,  On Air Presents, the National Endowment for the Humanities,  McGraw Hill, and Steve Ayson, a 4-time DGA nominee for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Commercials.
